It appeared to be a much simpler time to grow up. I’m a 50-60’s child. No electronic toys, just sports equipment. And learning to play an instrument. We made use of the snow in winter to become fortresses, and wage war on kids who lived on other blocks. Christmas seemed magical. Tons of snow and no cares in the world. We would stay up late just to watch it fall. In the am in tv was Wonderama, Claude Kirshner, Jerry Mahoney and Knucklehead, crappy b/w cartoons, The Three Stooges made us laugh every time. Then there were the Dead End Kids. Rough, tough examples of inner city kids always getting into trouble. My favorite was Our Gang. Petey the pit bull nany dog was the gangs protector, spanky, alphala, muggzy, darla who was every little boys first crush. We saw the first McDonalds go up with a burger, fries and a drink and got change back from our dollar. And yeah, there were still boys fighting after school on the school playground, never too serious but impressed the girls. After school we went to a friends house and played 78’s of the Beatles, Dave Clark 5, Beach Boys, With some Doo Wop mixed in. Our time was much more innocent. Simpler. Edgy excitement was playing spin the bottle or 7 minutes in Heaven with pretty girls from the neighborhood you always daydreamed about. All other social times in mixed company were chaperoned. Yes, with parents! But we always had flipping cards to build up your collection. None of us knew then that the cards we scratched and scraped on the cement would be extremely valuable in the future. Only in perfect condition 😱. Can’t say it was the best time to come up, but it was a good time to experience most of what’s popular today first. 😊

WW-I battlefields remain uninhabitable for 300-900 years. iI’s because of the unrecovered human remains, chemical contamination, plus unexploded artillery shells, all lost in the soil which at the time was churned into mud by the sheer volume of artillery used. (Source)
We are all headed to the same place. It only depends on when! Prepare yourself. ⚔️

Right now the Internet is held at a Title II level
If you don’t know what this means, here’s the meaning:
It’s held the same way food and water are held - important and easy accessable
Ajit Pai wants to take away that Title II status. He wants to make the internet a Want, not a Need. We live in the age of technology, internet is a basic need for survival now. You need the internet to access information, continue education, get a job, and in some cases: get food and water. Yes, you can do your grocery shopping online now, which is a huge help for people with any type of special needs.
I’m seeing so many posts about losing their favourite youtubers or never reading fanfiction again. Both good points, but that’ll never get you your internet saved.
Talk about the real dangers. People starving at home because they don’t have anyone to get them groceries. People dying because they can’t search up to see if their symptoms are ‘more than the common cold’. Thousands not knowing what to do in a natural disaster, having no way to receive proper education on what to do in their situation. Millions of potential highschool and college dropouts because they have to pick between education and whether or not they want to eat for the next month.
These are real dangers. Our poverty rates will rise indefinitely if the NN is destroyed.
If you’re thinking about your fanfiction, your youtubers, your fanart, stop for a moment and think about the other things. Think about how you might actually be able to have those things, while another family gadds to the unemployment rate
The internet must remain free. It’s what keeps mankind connected. It’s literally the pulse of globalization.
